After completing this course, you’ll be able to analyze the common-law duties of employers to their workers and the defenses against workers compensation claims available to employers.
Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Describe the common-law employer liability loss exposure.
- Explain how workplace injuries were handled before workers compensation laws were enacted.
- Describe the goals of workers compensation laws.
- Describe the common features of workers compensation laws.
- Describe the various federal statutes dealing with compensation for workplace
injuries, the workers subject to the statutes, and the remedies provided by the statutes.
- Given a case, identify any applicable federal statute and the remedy that would apply.
